There is one emblem that represents hope even though it had it’s beginning in hopelessness, gives light although built out of darkness, an emblem of life even through death ..that emblem is the cross!
Where is your love
Where is your forgiveness
Would you stop the crimson flow
Would you fight the one above
Take His authority upon oneself
weaken the cross, it’s effectiveness
there’s no flesh to withstand or obscure
or stop the the blood beneath that cross!
Will your conscience be seared
Will your heart and soul forget it’s beginning
Would you forget His own mercy for you
Would you not recognize the same grace
the same Word and seed extending
to save your soul, in heaven your place
oh sorrowful soul how easy your forgetting
the same blood is for all beneath that tree
Would you not pull one from hell’s fire
Would you become as one overtaken by evil’s lure
Will you not fight for the salvation of others
Will you not plead the blood for the un-pure
or will you the lines of self-righteousness blur
mingle with the holiness of our heavenly Father
become reprobate concerning the faith
and let that cross on Calvary’s hill begin to fade
Will you not let convictions tide pull
the same spirit your soul, their soul intercede
Will you be oblivious to sin’s oppressive rule
trying to remove a mote while thyself a beam
oh sad soul have you forgotten the ways of a pharisee
Would your faith become as tingling symbols
Where there is no purpose to your plea
Until the cross seems buried with pride and carelessness!
