we say these movements have changed our lives
we say these movements have helped us thrive
we say we’ve changed for the better
but still, emblazoned, is that scarlet letter
shining upon our breast
with heavy hearts in our chest
we say we’ve become more diverse
but women are still forced to carry a purse
but women are still forced into tiny molds
thin-waisted, big-breasted, they still seem, somehow, to hold
we say we’re varied, but all i see is white and testosterone
and im just trying to look out for my own
what kind of a world is this
where all men do is diss, and diss, and diss
upon these beautiful lives of ours
right up until the moment that we join the stars
every day we’re treated differently
so why don’t you just lay another hit on me
i assure you, i can take it
but we’re ready to change it
