Never dries my tears Quick to stir my fears. Never a soft caress Quick to tear my dress. This is the hand that loves me. Never strokes my hair. But yanks it without care. Never reaches out But quick to knock me down. This is the hand that loves me. Never offers comfort But pleased in making me hurt. Never does it soothe. But quick to leave a bruise. This is the hand that loves me. Never brings me luck Succeeds to have me duck. Never helps me win at all Always pulls back when I fall. This is the hand that I drew, This is the hand of You.

Your bouncing between “This is the hand that loves me” and the evidence of a toxic relationship is a perfect representation of why people stay in those situations. Some people will try to block out the bad in exchange for that one solitary thought, while it can also be used as a declaration of anger while listing why the person is not healthy to be with. Either way it makes a great message and a better poem. Great job!
