The Spider and The Angry Woman
By:Gen1900
The spider crept along the kitchen floor, keeping its eyes out for any sign of dead bugs laying on the tiles. On his right, his four eyes saw a juicy fruit fly.
“Yummy!” he said happily.
He walked over to the juicy fly and ate it with his stomach filling with blood. He rubbed his pale tummy with his eight legs and began to go back to his web.
The web had no rips or tears and that made Charles the Spider extra proud. His other arachnid friends had smaller homes compared to his giant one. They envied him greatly but they loved his companionship more than his abode.
He jumped on the web and fell into a deep slumber.
Meanwhile, the owner of the house came in setting her keys on the table.
“Oh, drats can’t I ever get rid of these stupid spiders!” she growled. No matter how much she cleaned, her enemies always seemed to rebuild seconds later.
She saw Mr.James’ place under the stove which had two lovely rooms. The angry lady picked up the web with a tissue and immediately discarded it into the trash bin.
“There! See how you like that!” she grumbled walking into the living room.
Mr.James discovered the remains of his house soon afterward and he completely lost his sense of silver lining attitude.
He crept to Charles’ house seeing his friend sleeping away.
“WAKE UP!” cried Mr. James.
Charles woke up with a start and fell over his bed.
“Wha…..in the world?!” he said sleepily.
“The lady took my home, Charles! It vanished! Poof! You must do something about it!” rambled on Mr. James.
“Yes, I must do something about. Yes, I should.” replied Charles yawning wide with his fangs appearing white and long.
Without thinking, Charles marched into the living room where the lady was. Mr. James tried to stop him but it was too late…he was going to meet his death.
“We must think this through,Charley!” yelled Mr.James whose voice was now becoming a faint echo.
The lady was dusting as usual, wearing saggy black pants and her hair was up in a tight bun.
“Over here, you meany!” shouted Charles to the woman.
The lady looked down. She saw ANOTHER EIGHT LEG CREATURE!
“You came to die…hmm?” she said going over to a small table which had a box of tissues.
Charles continued to scream threats at her but it proved worthless.
The lady opened up the tissue and squished Charles inside of it.
It wasn’t a noble death nor proud either but that tiny spider did his duty. He tried with all his might to defend and protect his friend.

It’s a nice idea to tell a story from the perspective of something like a spider living in a house. However, this was a little confusing. This tale has the simplicity and feel of a kid’s story, but I didn’t say it ended like a children’s book. I assume the point of the story is to create empathy for the smallest forms of life, but I’m not sure.
