I’ve heard say, “you really don’t know a person till you live or work with them.” Your inner person will make more of an impression, more lasting friendships, and more respect than the outer you ..things you don’t see!
Flesh and blood
bones and muscle
water and mud
mostly our bubble
each of us
an outward appearance
but there’s so much more
God took the trouble
and in His omniscience
placed things invisible
unseen but at our core
really we’re more things you don’t see!
Man or woman
not your beauty or brawn
or putting in or putting on
it’s courage, wisdom, and
kindness more of who we are
soul and spirit
inner woman or man
we work to invent
one we like in the mirror
but your character
looking glass doesn’t show
things you don’t see that glow
Maybe more time invest
the inward person
give the outward some rest
below the surface
where faith, goodness, and hope
virtues unseen rely
we would better cope
hidden characteristics try
respect, honor, and obedience
I know, sounds old school
calmness and patience
and yes clothes, hats, boots and hair cool
but real beauty, things you don’t see!

This is so true! People are so quick to judge based on appearances, but what’s really important isn’t so obvious. When I first met my boyfriend, I thought he had no personality. But the more I got to know him, the more I realized he was just a quiet soul. Still waters run deep, as they say.
Thanks for your comment and yes very true, still waters do run deep ..again thanks.
