Chapter IX:
The people trailed not far behind them, destroying houses with their own tools they had gathered. Liam dared a tiny peak behind him and nearly stopped and gasped in surprise when he realized Ethan hadn’t been able to catch up and was about two inches away from being obliterated by the crowd.
“Ethan!” Liam called in worry.
“Don’t worry about me Liam, finish the tasks and you’ll meet me again someday, I live several blocks a way from the school you go to. Maybe we can start of in better accords?” Ethan said.
The crowd grew closer and then Liam turned away as he heard what he thought to be one of his greatest friends be torn apart by crazy villagers driven by pure madness. Liam turned around, used his weapons and stunned every crazy person behind him. When he was done he looked for Ethan, but he was gone. He no sign of Ethan, not even the weapons he grabbed. Liam then saw the trail of unconscious people leading quite far down the road somewhere in France.
He reloaded his weapons and said out loud, feeling braver than he had ever felt before, “Don’t worry Ethan, I’ll save you from this chaos and those people no matter the costs.”
He dashed down the street, following the trail of people, knowing that he would soon run out of time and they would eventually wake up and stop at nothing to defeat him. Liam had been running for several hours and knew he’d have to be fast if he wanted to save Ethan. He had no idea how much stock he had for his weapons or when they would run out. He heard a shot in the distance and felt himself growing closer to where Ethan currently was.
“Ethan! Stay put, I’m nearly there.” Liam called.
Liam kept running and after a few blocks he found Ethan, bloody and a bit bruised.
“Liam? Why did you come after me?” Ethan asked as a bit of confusion crossed his face.
“Woah! Look out!!” Liam called and shot a person that was right behind Ethan, about to maul him with a wooden club.
“Thank you. You’re so generous Liam.” Ethan said, looking at him modestly. Liam went up to Ethan and placed his arm around Ethan’s back.
“We’re in this together. That’s why I went after you. We can end this, you helped sever the first requirement to end this chaos anyways. I could never just leave you behind.” Liam explained calmly.
“I’m glad we can trust each other.” Ethan said. Ethan then embraced Liam in a hug. Liam stood there for a few seconds in slight shock.
They both turned somewhat red and then Liam spoke, “I’m glad as well that I found you.” He returned the embrace.

This shows how crazy people get with just a little bit of power. Everyone wants the power of the pencil, but in reality no one should have it.
