We have many curvy roads and beautiful mountains high porch-swinging grandmas who will wave and tell you hi. we may not have the fix, but we certainly will try ‘Cause this is West Virginia. We have small town values like saying Thanks and Please. We hold the door for strangers and on Sunday bend our knees. With neighbors helping neighbors we have all that we need ‘Cause this is West Virginia. We take life here in stride and at a slower pace, our fierce Mountaineer Pride drowns out all the hate of those who choose to mock us and don’t understand our state. ‘Cause this is West Virginia. Yes, we have our problems just like most places do, but here we stick together and that’s what pulls us through. So if you care to visit we’ll certainly welcome you just remember when you come to wear your Gold and Blue. ‘Cause this is West Virginia!

I’m from southeast Missouri near Branson, I like the way you describe West Virginia maybe some day I’ll get to visit. I liked your poem and your state sounds like my kind of place.
Thank you for your comments. We’re a friendly state, so please do come visit. Despite all the stereotypes, we are still welcoming to visitors and so please come say hey, you really might decide to stay. It’s pretty quiet and peaceful here. :o)
I’ve been to WV, beautiful state. I almost felt at home because of all that my mother, who was a native of WV, used to tell me. I still have a multitude of cousins, who I do not know, living there. Your poem was very descriptive, and described the place, and people to a “T”. Great write!
Thank You. Yes, we’re certainly not “uppity” at all and tend to be friendly to visitors and help them out if we can. Thanks for your comments.
