This night is different
I could explain
The change in the wind
Its smell no longer of the reef
Instead, of rotten apples
And sharp, cold copper.
The change in the sounds
No longer hearing the wind chimes sway
Instead, the television’s bombs and shrieks
And dogs snarling to each other.
It’s different tonight.
The feel of the air
Now musty, dense, overbearing
Instead of the clear, crisp breeze
The angels’ tears are misted in every breath I take in.
But last night-
Every breath I took in
Filled me with smells of the aqua sea
With sounds of your rumbling engine
The feel of the air around me,
Leaping in your presence.
Oh how I wish
Tonight was last night.
