This story started back in May.
All when he awkwardly said “hey.”
Across from me was a man I still can’t quite explain.
There we were, learning of our trip to Spain.
Before we went on our way,
The farm was the first time to play.
I thought that I must be insane,
But now I know he felt the same.
There were many moments he caught my attention.
He always knew just what to say.
Oh, and he’s the most handsome man; did I mention?
But after months of dreaming of what could be,
Turns out he thought it best to chase me.
Sitting across from the man I adore,
I try to grasp my surroundings,
But he is all I see.
There is so much going on around,
But it feels like we are the only two here.
It feels as if time is standing still for us.
I see his deep green eyes piercing into mine,
His bright, uncontrollable smile, and
The twitch in his lip as he nervously shares his perspective.
I think I can hear the beating of his heart.
I hear the words he says,
But I sit in disbelief.
Is this really happening?
What did he just ask?
I can’t breathe. I can’t speak.
All I can muster up is my left thumb.

Oh, lovely poem! I feel this way around my crush. Our first date lasted hours, but it was like no one else was there nor did any time pass…heh, I could talk about that all day, but the awkward “thumbs up” moments do happen and it’s probably the best feeling. You’ve captured all of that really well.
