Chapter 1 (Part 2)
I arrived at the shop just in time to open. I park the car and looked through my condensed window. The streets were buzzing with people and traffic. Buildings were being constructed by hundreds of sweaty builders. I watch as business and restaurants owners shuffle around in their buildings anxious ingly getting ready for the day. I got out the car and took a deep breath. The smell of french roast coffee tingled my nose. I close my eyes and smiled. I loved roasted coffee. The smell always made me bubble of happiness inside. I closed the driver’s door, walk to the passenger’s side and grabbed my bookbag. I locked the car and headed down the sidewalk to the record shop. I passed by several stores: Verizon, Spirit, the Nail shop, Hair Salon, Dollar tree, Five Below, Tropical Smoothie (which should be closed), McDonald’s, Wendy’s and so forth. After several minutes, I finally arrived at the shop. I pulled the door to only realize that it was locked. My eyes widened as I tried to pull the door multiple times. “Mike”, I yelled through the glass. I looked through the windows. The lights inside were on but no one was there. I knocked on the glass numeral times until I heard a voice. “Ugh, there you are. I thought I would have to go home and get you”. I turned around. It was Mike. “Where were you,” I asked impatiently. “Well, since you weren’t here I decided to stop by Starbucks and get some coffee because I skipped breakfast. I figured you probably skipped breakfast as well so, I knew you would be cranky and get you one too,” he said handing me the coffee. I rolled my eyes and took the cup. I studied the cup for second before taking a sip. The coffee was hot and bittersweet. The french taste made me feel like I was in heaven. No, the coffee felt like God had made it himself. I stopped drinking and held my coffee at chest level. “That….was …..fast”! Mike said with amazement. “I’m not done,” I lied. “Remind me not to buy you vodka” he said as took a sip of his drink. “Look, how ’bout you unlock the door while I’ll work?” I said ignoring his joke. Sound good? I-“Okay, then I interrupted as I folded arms and waited. He rolled his eyes and mumbled his breath. He removed his keys front pocket and unlocked the door.
“Thanks”, I said as I walked in and studied my surroundings. Hundreds of guitars sat on the far left side of the wall of the store, on hooks. Near the guitar section, were stacks of books and CDs for beginner guitarists. On the right side of the store, there were rows of wooden bookcases of vinyls records, CDs, and tapes. In each section, there were different genres; R&B, reggae, soul, punk, metal, deathcore, rock, hip hop/rap, classical, jazz, country, alternative, folk, opera, funk, disco, rock and roll, electronica, etc. In the middle of store, there were clothing racks filled with vintage t shirts, ripped jeans, sweaters, and biker jackets. In the front of the store, there are dusty, wooden shelves that hold books (mostly history), and a cash register (behind the register), more t shirts, vinyl record needles, band posters, bags of candy, notebooks, drumsticks, and guitar picks.
I threw my book bag on the stool behind the register and unzipped the bag. I pulled out my laptop, phone, and BlueTooth. I zipped up my bookbag, pinned up my hair, and walked back to the register. At that moment, Mike walks in. “You gonna help””? I asked him. “I have some good news”, Mike said blatantly ignoring my question. I frowned. “What do you mean by “good news” I said air quoting good news. He rolled his eyes and moved towards the door and opened it. I gasped. I couldn’t believe my eyes…..

I can’t wait for the next part! Although, I got a bit confused at this part; “not done,” I lied. “Remind me not to buy you vodka” he said as took a sip of his drink. “Look, how ’bout you unlock the door while I’ll work?” I said ignoring his joke. Sound good? I-“Okay, then I interrupted as I folded arms and waited.” The story is amazing, regardless!
