"Tomorrow’s Leaders"
Someone once told me, “In order for a person’s situation to improve they must be willing to endure the pain necessary to make the change required to see those improvements” or something to that effect. I am now in full grasp of that concept. There is a great cost that is usually paid by any great leader in their story. Anyone seeking to bring about a change or address injustice almost always ends up paying some personal cost somewhere along the way to bring about the changes they are seeking. There is a war going on for the soul of this world right now. I truly believe my generation will be the one to change things. We will bring about a true state of acceptance and equality for all people. I do not claim perfection in my thinking. I have often been wrong and made decisions I later regretted, but I am not wrong in saying these things now.
Most of your real leaders never take elected office. They lead with the power of their voice and the words they speak with it. They spread a message of hope and try to change things by changing the hearts and minds of those who hear them. They do so from among the people they represent, not from above them in offices like that of the presidency. They usually live among the people they serve and they are afforded no special protections, save for the personal safety. They often come from backgrounds more humble than those of the people they represent. What makes them such great human beings is that they have known so much suffering and it has left a lasting impression on them as a person. Suffering leaves you with a certain humility that allows you in the best of cases to identify with and sympathize with other people who have endured the same. These people know what it is to despair and they work to prevent anyone else from going through that. Their ability to do this depends entirely on them reliving that pain and hardship. They talk about what they endured and how it affected them to prevent the same situation from being allowed to continue or happen again to others. When we change the people’s way of thinking by sharing our experiences we change the world because we change how people see it.
Many of the Conservatives openly oppose and attack the character of anyone who attempts to part ways witho traditional ways of thinking because they are more difficult to control, predict, and most importantly to financially exploit. Most of the conservatives only seem to be interested in profit at any cost, elevating one nation or group above another, dividing people, and keeping things the same by spreading fear rather than educating based on facts. They do not like progressives because they tend to spread their way of thinking to other people which runs entirely counter to maintaining the status quo of controlling everyone through fear, wealth consolidation, divisive speech, socioeconomic divisions, and policies that are oppressive. They often call those in need and desperation those who feel “entitled” to government support. No one chooses to be poor. Those social safety nets barely pay enough to cover even part of your costs of living, let alone those necessary to have quality of life. These men who hold onto the illusion of power feel they can say anything, do anything, and that they exist above the rest of us in many cases. The subject those who are deserving of help and assistance to imprisonment and punishment simply for trying to seek a better life in a land not their own. They punish the poor for breaking the same laws they do while they often see no consequences for themselves due to immunity by wealth, position, party-affiliation, and the influence it brings them. They are perfectly fine with this as long as they keep the suffering their policies cause out of their neighborhoods and out of their sight. Meanwhile, things they take for granted through the privileges they have due to higher social and economic status the average person goes without. In the case of the President they call this type of thing “Executive privilege” which makes members of the executive branch exempt from certain proceedings such as having to appear at Congressional hearings. In the case of the police in The United States they call it “qualified immunity.” Those protections were given in good faith under the conditions that they would help insure fairness, equality, and security for the nation and all of its people. They was meant to help those in office to protect our constitutional freedoms, rights, and our pursuit of happiness.
When we begin to see our rights to freedom of speech and press stripped away in order to quiet those among us who are seeking to spread enlightenment and shine a light on the true nature of things, you know that it is time for a change. These men of power are only interested in trying to maintain the current system of thinking and doing things. That system does not work and if you study history at all you will see that time and time again. We need a governing system that addresses the needs of all of the people and provides access to those who currently have none to make their voices heard. The power to change things has always rested with the individual and groups of those like-minded individuals working together for the common good. Our representatives were supposed to be representative of all interests, not just their own and those of private interests. The time to change things is now. Anyone who ignores the calls for reason, compassion, and enlightened conversation in the face of such hatred and darkness does not belong in elected office. They have created a culture of abandonment and divisiveness that leaves children, the individual, and families behind. I say that if we leave one soul behind in suffering and in darkness, we condemn the whole of the population because that one person could be any one of us one day. I have been that person. I have been and am in a position where I have not been able to get legal help or medical assistance. I lost my home because I could not get assistance. Some might call leaving no one behind communism or a welfare state, but I do not think so. Conservatives call it communism when all individuals are guaranteed a minimum quality of life which is something that do not want. They support Capitalism because they profit from doing so at the expense of everyone else by exploiting the needs of the many to enhance the wealth and prosperity of the few. This is wrong and it has always been wrong. You know it, I know it; what are we doing about it?
Our progressive thinkers are those who will lead us into a new way of thinking and free us from the oppression we currently live under due to the current way of thinking, our broken financial and tax systems, and our current governing body which largely tries to turn a blind eye to the suffering their policies cause. The monetary system is at the heart of that oppression. Money has been used to enslave the people and keep those without it in constant want of it. There is only one way for humanity to move forward and it is to realize that we are all one people living in one world regardless of any factors people may use to self-identify or separate themselves from each other. There are no divisions between us except those which we create and allow others to create and enforce. People may choose to live differently but that does not mean we are not all part of the human race. We must accept one another and accept this truth. What one does affects the whole of us and what the whole does affects the individual. People need to think bigger and see the big picture. The way of thinking that we must fend for ourselves and our families and to Hell with anyone else is why the world is in such bad shape. The one distinction here is that we must not allow people to do as they please when it causes harm to an individual or to the world. I do not feel that we have much time left to change to prevent the worst outcomes. Things are worsening the world over in many ways. The Earth will survive, whether or not the human race does. Our present leaders practice a policy of denial when faced with the facts about what is going on and what needs to be done about it. We are also so focused on punishment that we fail to address the underlying needs that motivate people to commit crime and break the rules. The leading cause of those those transgressions goes almost entirely unaddressed. People are in need and those needs are only addressed if they have money under the current system. There is not enough love for our fellow men and women, but most especially for the children. The people who understand that the only way forward is to practice faith, compassion, education, understanding, and mercy will be tomorrow’s leaders. They will heal this world and the human race through unity, faith in God, and scientific progress. There is no separation between those things whether we want it or not.
