Your first love is unforgettable,
That’s what they say.
And they’d be right.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw you.
Your eyes were bright,
Your smile blinding.
You filled the room with warmth,
Always welcoming people in with your positive energy.
I would have never guessed how bad you were hurting,
Until I had to see it for myself.
By that time, it was too late,
You were too far gone.
The sound of your pale body hitting the floor with a loud thump will never leave me,
Or the loud screams that filled the small bathroom when I realized you weren’t coming back.
The very last time I saw you was when you lay lifeless in that casket.
Your hair was parted the same as it always was and you were dressed in your favorite dress.
Somehow it still wasn’t you.
I would give anything to forget you, especially the way you looked that night.
But that’s the thing about your first love,
They’re unforgettable.
