Her breath was shaky and she didn’t dare speak because she knew that someone would find the crack in her voice. They were fighting again and she couldn’t handle it. Her mind was overcrowding with thoughts that would break her will to live and she couldn’t disappear. She tried to hug herself and curl into a tiny ball, thinking she could just cease to exist. But it wouldn’t happen. The familiar silent tears rolled down her face but she didn’t care enough to wipe them away. She had grown so used to the empty feeling in her chest, she was almost afraid to be happy for once.
Their voices suddenly raised as she covered her ears, begging whatever god there may be to just make it stop. She was begging and begging, repeating the same words over and over like a mantra. Her prayers were answered but not in the way she had hoped. Her heart dropped when she heard the familiar thud of the body hitting the ground. Someone had fallen and started having a seizure and no one was helping. She would help but her body was frozen with fear and she couldn’t let anyone see the dry tears staining her face.
It wasn’t going to stop anytime soon.
