Hey JRene. i have been through depression as well. From time to time I have anxiety attacks as well. As you said, its not fun and it never will be. At the end of the day , we need to be there for ourselves . We need to look out for ourselves no matter what happens. This is obviously not easy because I remember when people used to say the same things to me so I never believed them. I love poetry since I’m a literature student myself ; I was scrolling through the main page and I stumbled across your poem ” who gives a shit ?” I must say that it was a very well – written poem. The reader could surely feel the speaker’s appeal and pain.
JRene after reading that poem I may have a faint idea of what you are going through. ‘IF’ that’s you and not the speaker. Depression may have several causes and so does anxiety. It differs from person to person. You know what helped me? A friend of mine suggested that I try writing down the things that I’m happy to have in my life and the things that I hate. The things that you list down could be an event that happened, friends, people, anything ! Then take time to understand what you wrote and try to find a solution. You need to find out what’s really bothering you.Did you ever try talking to your mother? or perhaps someone you could trust? There are times when there is no real solution and you just have to pray that the storm passes by. I remember spending nights hurting myself and crying for hours and hours. I grew distant day by day from the people who “so -called ” cared for me.
In that poem of yours , you wrote that you are 17 . Well i’m 18 and this phase that I went through was from grade 10 -11 ( O ‘ levels ). And now that i’m doing my A levels ( grade 12) I really don’t see things working out for me again. During my summer break everything was fine but then everything went down the lane once again.
Try finding something that will allow you to escape this world and its awful beings. I love writing , so when I’m angry there are times when I really cant tell anyone what or how I feel so I just write everything down on a piece of paper and let all the anger out. Usually this helps! So maybe you could give this a try as well.
Will be looking forward to your reply.
Thank you zonaseljouk! I have tries writing down my feelings before. Sometimes it helps, other times, not so much. I just went through a rough break up, so I am struggling yet again…
He sent me a letter, and I had known him for three years, and then after one week of dating, he broke up with me and removed me from his FB, just to re-add me and ask me out again. We were talking just two days ago about what happened, and now his account has disapeared… Again.
