You Can’t See My Shine
Life takes its toll on a person’s soul,
it happens to all in time,
inside I’m new with a polished hue
but you can’t see my shine.
I wish you could see the real me
delicate and refined,
but tears unwept, inside me kept
so you can’t see my shine.
It’s sad but true, that very few
come readily to mind,
when thoughts are cast of who at last
has truly seen my shine.
But, after thought, it matters not
what destiny defines,
For when I die, it’s only I
need know that I have shined.
