*I was digging up some of my old writing and found this old thing. It was supposed to be the beginning of a fanfic I had going. Hope you guys like it.
Life’s unfaithful
Unrelenting and unkind
It’s absolutely undeniable
that’ll flip at the drop of a dime
Just like the friends you use to know
the car you thought was unbreakable
The girl you dated twenty years ago
Just like them, life is unfaithful
Life’s unfaithful
Uncertain and Unfair
A family that was dysfunctional
Sixteen living in my own care
Surfing and skipping school
Drinking till I was alcohol full
Following my own twisted rules
You see life is unfaithful
Life’s unfaithful
Unwilling and unsympathetic
my girlfriend pretty but deceitful
It’s the reason we never wedded
She cheated on me with some guy
Threw away something beautiful
Left her at the altar and then she died
That’s what happens when you’re unfaithful
Life’s unfaithful
Unfortunate and unjust
People that are so unmerciful
They rather see a friendship fall to dust
The friend that you leaned on
The friend that was truthful
The unbreakable bond
broken because even they were unfaithful
Life’s unfaithful
My dad said over a glass of wine
Don’t be so gullible
To the point, you ignore the signs
I couldn’t see my dad and me apart
As I was heading back to the boat
my dad hopped into the car
All for it to suddenly explode
Oh dad I finally understand
That which must be true
You try all you can
But that doesn’t exclude you
From feeling the pain
Where the hurting is unbelievable
I wish I can erase this day
The day I found out life was unfaithful

I like how this poem tells a story and develops throughout. Watch your tenses, though; some of the sentences are in past tense, and some are in present.
Thanks for sharing your work. I enjoyed the rhythm or flow of the piece and the story it had to tell. It’s also very true life can be unfaithful and undoubtedly unrelenting but is that not what makes the world, at times, beautiful?
Like the others, I enjoyed the flow to this piece. You said it was intended to kick off a fanfiction, I’d be curious to know which work you were writing about. Knowing the intended context made it seem like the opening song to a show where it shows us in bits and pieces the events that have led up to where we are currently in the story. Anime does this well, for example. I could see the story in the words and then as the last lines fall into place, we open up to the story for today.
I like the teachings in this poem, nice writing. I really enjoyed this
