Just years.
Years of death and depression.
Years of crying.
Years of bullying.
Years of betrayal.
Years of fear.
Years of loneliness.
Years of pain.
Just years.

There was absolutely no filter with this poem, and I really appreciate it because of that. The narrator does not try to water down the anguish and misery that he or she has felt over the years. They are just blunt and candid and brutal about everything, and that deserves extreme respect. The words used throughout the poem – “depression,” “bullying,” “crying,” “fear,” “loneliness” – are incredibly profound and impactful, and so the reader consequentially gets an itch or impression of the heavy weight the narrator has been trekking around with him or her for such a long time. All in all, this poem succeeds in its purpose: to demonstrate how years and years of bitter things can be degrading. By the end of this poem, I felt it – the exhaustion. Very, very well done.
One final remark: I’m not sure if you had intended this, but while describing the turmoils that the narrator experienced over the years, you almost placed them in alphabetical order. That being said, I actually love the idea of organizing the words in such a way in order to reinforce the theme of time. In other words, by situating the words in alphabetical order, it will impress upon the reader this concept of simply following a cycle. Despite our individual differences, we all are muddling through life, the clock ticking down. Again, this is just a suggestion, but I thought it was an interesting idea so I wanted to share and present the option!
Thank you so much for commenting, and I’m glad you enjoyed my work!
Putting it in (almost) alphabetical order was not intentional, but quite a coincidence.
