Sannis and over fifteen hundred Sporadical fighters were moving through the deserts of the Myriapod Domain. They were heading toward the Insect Domain. On the way there, they picked up about two hundred spora slaves who they liberated from several myriapod cities. They carried them in a few of their biome cruisers.
Sannis and Malicus, the second in command and leader of the reptile base, led the group through the dry and hot desert. They only needed to endure the harsh conditions for a short time, but there was a much bigger challenge that lied ahead. General Pendra and his legion of about three thousand men were quickly approaching them. According to a few Sporadical scouts, who went ahead to check them out, the myriapod legion was about ten kilometers away. After a little while, the spora stopped advancing and prepared for battle. Sannis discussed strategies with Malicus and the group captains. He made it clear that their number one priority was to protect the Zitonian spora that they had gathered.
In a little over an hour, Pendra and his legion were within viewing range. Their maneks were already on full display. The intimidating mass of centipede and millipede men marched towards them. Their surplus of myriapod legs along with their bodies made them look extra horrifying. One man, who was very large compared to the others, was at the front and center. Sannis knew who the man was. It was the man who was notorious for leading his legion in battle from the front–Pendra, the giant desert centipede.
Both sides, armed with weapons, shields, and maneks, were ready to clash. The myriapods charged in, and then the spora ran in as well. Sannis went straight for Pendra, letting him know that he was the leader of the group who would duel him in the battle. Pendra picked up on the challenge, and the two of them were gunning for each other.
The two opposing teams collided with thunderous force. The fight was gruesome right out of the gate. There were sounds of ringing metal, screams, and bodies hitting the dirt. Visibility was rough as tons of dust was kicked up and spread all over. Even with all of the carnage that surrounded him, Sannis had his sights set on Pendra. The tall and muscular man was built like a berserker. He was bald with a head that was entirely read, except for two golden antennae that stood at the top. Along with his human arms and legs, he had six pairs of centipede legs that ran from just below his armpits, down to his waist.
When Sannis got close, he swiped at Pendra with his wolf claws. Pendra leaned back and avoided the swipe. His centipede manek made him exceptionally flexible. He was able to bend and twist his body with ease. After dodging, Pendra sprung out onto the ground and used his centipede legs to crawl towards Sannis. He crawled fast for such a big man. He rushed to take out Sannis’s legs, but Sannis managed to jump out of the way. Pendra zoomed towards him again and Sannis jumped. This time, Pendra was able to calculate where Sannis would jump and tripped him in mid-air with one of his legs. Sannis fell hard onto the ground.
Pendra swung over to his left and pressed the sides of Sannis’s neck with two of his legs. The legs were powerful, and they felt like rough tree branches. Sannis tried to pull the legs away so he could breathe, but they wouldn’t budge. He caught a glimpse of Pendra’s razor-like mandibles that originated from the sides of his mouth. One bite from those would certainly mean the end for him.
As Pendra tried to bite him, Sannis brought his feet up to Pendra’s stomach and kicked the centipede man off of him. He sent Pendra rolling about a meter away. Sannis sprang up to his feet and tried to run in for an attack before Pendra could gather himself. His plan failed as Pendra spun his long body around and swept Sannis off of his feet. The feeling of landing flat on his back sent shockwaves throughout his entire body.
Pendra was instantly on him, delivering vicious shots to Sannis’s entire body with the use of his centipede limbs. Sannis was able to cover his head and face, but the punches were landing everywhere else. Each powerful hit caused an explosion of pain. Pendra did not let up on the ground and pound offense. If he continued to land the heavy blows for just a few more moments, Sannis would be doomed to defeat. Sannis knew that if he wanted to survive, he would have no choice but to use his special power.
Sannis suddenly stopped protecting himself. He started to grow more fur on his body, and his eyes went from a bronze color to a glowing cerulean blue. His mouth protruded out more, and his claws and fangs grew longer. Pendra kept punching, but the punches didn’t seem like they were hurting Sannis anymore. Sannis had morphed into something different from his usual manek transformation. Instead of looking like his usual wolf-human hybrid, he looked more like an actual wolf.
Sannis sat up and shoved Pendra off of him as if he was a child. The mad wolf got up and dashed towards Pendra who had just rose to his feet. Pendra, thinking Sannis would go for a swipe, tried to lean away, but Sannis straight up tackled him like a wild animal. Sannis picked Pendra up from off of the ground, pressed him high over his head, and threw him forward. Sannis followed it up with a merciless mauling. He ripped away at Pendra’s flesh with his claws. Pendra screamed in agony. He was slashed, pounded, and scraped until he was a dead victim of Sannis’s ruthless rage.
Sannis stood up, looked at the sky, and howled like an alpha wolf. He caught the attention of many fighters around him. Some foolish myriapod fighters decided to test their luck against the wild beast. Sannis proceeded to slaughter five men who came his way. He bashed their brains in, slit their throats, and snapped their necks. The message soon became clear that he was an unstoppable killing machine, and the myriapods began to run for their lives. Running only made him want to kill them even more. He chased a few of them down and slew them. The rest of the myriapods were able to escape.
Sannis turned towards his own team and charged at them. The only thing on his mind was to kill. He didn’t care who it was. His next target was a striped zebra man. The man tried to run, but Sannis was on his heels. Soon, Sannis knocked him down with a swipe to the back.
Sannis stood over him, and the man sobbed as he shouted, “Please don’t kill me!”
The wolf monster was not in the mood to negotiate. He lept towards the man. Just before Sannis could pounce on him, Malicus flew in and lifted the man out of harm’s way. Sannis growled as he kneeled on the ground.
He watched as Malicus flew away with his prey, and he suddenly became calmer. He was losing the urge for rampaging. In seconds, his wolf features disappeared, and he was a regular man again. He looked around at the terrified faces of his comrades and the many bodies of myriapod fighters spread out all around. Although he had no memory of the devastation, he knew what he had just done on the battlefield. With no strength or energy left, he closed his eyes and then passed out.
