“From the time she is born,
he will coddle her.
He is her protector,
her provider,
her father.
She is
Daddy’s little girl.
She crawls into his lap
holds his hand
makes him picture’s
puts a smile on his face
she is
Daddy’s little girl
She will outgrow his lap
But never his love.
When she gets older
and marries
She will start a family of her own
and she and her daughter will always be,
she is
Daddy’s little girl.

I enjoy reading your pieces about paternal bonds. They always make me smile with how much affection you cram into your word choice. I hope she knows how much you care about her, because I’m not even involved and I still find this absolutely precious.
Thank you. Having two step kids that I really love and treat as exactly as my own helps with these pieces a lot. Plus watching them interact with their father is a huge plus to pieces. It is never to late to get involved in your child’s life. Sometimes even a letter in the mail can make their day.
