They say
The heart remembers
And
I don’t know if that’s true
But
I can tell you
The pain
This overflowing mix
Of love
And anguish
Was So great
That to this moment
On any given day
The memories
Alter her breathing
Like the universe heaving
A hiccuping sigh
Caught in her chest
Some reservoir of grief
Trying to escape
Though her bearing quiet
Her eyes dry
The air stutters
As if from a long sob.
