I can’t get down
Since you’ve put me up so high
On your shoulders where I’m vaulted
And you know I’m scared of heights
And you say “jump down!”
That you’ll wait below and catch me
Yes, you’ve always loved the plunge
And the way your stomach drops
But my heart’s not sound
And the ground looks close already
And so cold so rough, unsteady
Since your shoulders let me down
And I’m up too high
I can’t remember how I got here
But I think you might be guilty
And I think you knew I’d cry
I deserve for you to catch me
But the stunts you pull don’t teach me
Anything about your history
Of breaking fragile things.

I enjoyed reading this poem. It has a deeper meaning than it seems at first. I would love to know the inspiration for this piece. I love how you paralleled a deeper meaning with something more on the surface. It makes your ideas easier to understand, so that readers are able to relate.
