The lies we build are like a cocoon,
a safe haven we hide in,
the blissful comfort that blinds us from what we refuse to see…
But as ugly and scary as it may seem the beauty of the truth is in how it sets us free.
Faced with the reveal of what’s real is the true test of belief.
Is the truth the confirmation we seek exposing those who did us wrong?
Or will the truth just mirror the fault to be all our own?
The ongoing debate of which one is better?
The ragged shoe or the glass slipper?
The fairytale sells the dream every time.
But just how long will your sanity last in that hour glass of time?
We long for what we think we want but can’t have, the chase of desire traps us.
The lie is safe. The truth is dangerous.
We’re carelessly seduced making it easier to catch us.
We want it so bad, promises of what we once believed we could never have.
Tangible possibilities changes things no matter the cost.
We bargain away what is priceless and suddenly high values become lost.
At night we rest our heads in the bed of lies we wove and thread,
Asleep to the dangers that linger ahead…
Blissfully driven
by a short lived joy in our Majestic prison
Where second chances are rarely given.
Time alone escapes and it’s too late
We’ve been misled…
Just like that we lose our heads.

I love this. I feel like I can link this to depression, in terms of not being motivated to do anything and thinking without meaning. You begin to not care and your thinking gets watered down that you can’t think in any abstract way. This is kind of a wake-up call for me to start doing things with meaning. Thanks!
Thanks for your thoughts on this piece! I’m glad it had an impact on you?
No doubt we are prisoners of lies in that we are ruled by hypocracy all around us including us in it! Nice rendering of a tough subject!
Thanks for your comment, yeah you’re definitely speaking truth!
