Playing for a Cause One Love Check it Out!
If we can’t agree on anything, I know we can all agree that music is powerful. This power is enough to unleash creative inspiration, intense emotion and spiritual connection. Is it strong enough to break down the prison walls of hate with a heavy shot of love? That’s exactly what this organization is trying to do. Playing for a Cause is a movement started for the sole purpose of destroying cultural and racial boundaries between people and connecting the world through the powerful language of music. Ah, music to my ears. Talk about a way to positively use our resources, all that was needed is a camera, some microphones, an internet connection and a little ingenuitive creativity. Now this has to be one of the coolest concepts I have seen in a long time.
These guys are carrying on the legend of Bob Marley in an incredibly unique way, by actually connecting people from all around the globe to play songs of hope, love and inspiration together and stand for a unity among ALL people. A little bit of love, compassion and musical instruments was enough to begin a beautiful movement towards eradicating hatred, racism and lack of understanding. Without looking at the video you can hear the different colorful sounds from around the world in the voices of the singers and the timbre of their instruments. Music doesn’t need racial identity or language, sound can be made by the blind, the poor, the old and even the deaf. Yes there are deaf musicians checkout Evelyn Glennie, Amanda Harvey and one of the greatest composers of all time Beethoven.
“As we made our way around the world we encountered love, hate, rich and poor, black and white, and many different religious groups and ideologies. It became very clear that as a human race we need to transcend from the darkness to the light and music is our weapon of the future. This song around the world features musicians who have seen and overcome conflict and hatred with love and perseverance. We don’t need more trouble, what we need is love. The spirit of Bob Marley always lives on.” (Playing for a Cause)
These guys actually travel to remote locations to meet the musicians and experience the culture, doing what humans should be doing, hanging out and sending positive vibes. It really helps the credibility for me that the music is actually really good too. Very cool enmeshed mix of different sound palettes coming together collectively to play notoriously familiar songs. The video is super intriguing too, showing the native landscapes of all these different locations, really adding to that melting pot concept of integrating the different colors and flavors together for a beautifully prepared 5 star product that really makes you think about how you treat people. It’s 2018 and we still experience as much hate today as we did in World War 2 or the times of slavery. Just because we don’t see genocide in mainstream society doesn’t mean its not happening, not to mention all the constant turmoil with police brutality, immigration, terrorism, religious wars and plain old racism. I see it every day of my life and it never fails to disgusts me. I don’t care what color you or where you came from, you are my brother or sister and I will talk to you as if you look just like me and do anything I can to help you. Don’t underestimate the power of a smile either, it might just make someone’s day.
Playing for a Cause Don’t Worry Be Happy Check Out These Kiddos They Rock!
Now how can you not be happy jamming this! So great to see these talented kids of all sizes and colors coming together for this cause and making some quality music at it too. This project was done to raise funding for music programs for the children in Bangledesh. How I would love to be apart of that! I have always dreamed of going over seas to teach music.
“This video is part of our partnership with Okaidi, a children’s clothing line based in France. We are very excited to announce that the Playing For Change Foundation is working with Okaidi to launch a music program across 10 primary schools in the Mirpur District of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Okaidi Foundation recently created these schools and is now partnering with the PFC Foundation to introduce music as part of their curriculum. Through this new initiative, over 500 underprivileged children between the ages of 6 and 12 will receive free music education as part of their weekly activities at school. Music is the Key!” (Playing for a Cause)
I love seeing all the different kids in this music and what this stands for. Being a person that grew up on the music programs in school I personally know what this can mean in a kids life. They learn so much more than just music, patience, team work, perseverance, determination not to mention the life long friendships that are made.
These guys have me amped, this is just the type of inspiration and encouragement I needed and I hope you all feel the same. It’s not time to start talking about the worlds issue with race, discrimination and hatred it’s time to take action, and that’s what Playing for a Cause is doing. They are creating a product that represents the world in unity, on one accord, coming together all in one and one for all. Bob Marley would be so proud. LOVE CONQUERS ALL! ONE LOVE!
