Chapter Four
Hannah
I don’t know what to do. He’s just an inch away. I close my eyes. I don’t lean in. No, I’ve only kissed one boy before. Instead, I push myself up and pat him on the shoulder. Simple.
Chapter Five
Michael
I am almost relieved when she gets off. I admit, I froze. We are both blushing hard.
“Let’s go,” she says.
“And never speak of this again?” I ask.
“It depends,” Han answers.
She smiles, and shoulders her pack. Then, she does something totally unexpected. She kisses me. On the cheek. I blush the hardest I have ever blushed before. Finally, we are off. We set off along the beach. My stomach rumbles. We forgot breakfast. I stop in my tracks.
“What?” Han asks.
“Let’s eat,” I say.
Han nods and shrugs off her pack. I do the same, and take out a banana. Han takes out berries. I’m not sure what kind, but she wouldn’t be carrying them without Jos’s examination. He’s the genius. He would have to verify them. Suddenly, her body starts convulsing. Are the berries poisonous? No. She is choking! I wrap my arms around her midsection from the back and begin to do CPR. Her eyes roll back in her head from the lack of oxygen. Finally, the berry comes out. She collapses on the sand. I kneel beside her. She breaths!
