When you love someone, you would do anything for them. Sometimes, that thing is taking a bullet for them. Love is a complex, but beautiful thing. If you find even one person in your lifetime that you really, truly love, that’s amazing. But, some people aren’t as fortunate as other and will never find true love.
Our story begins in Dublin, Ireland with a young women. Marielle Thomas Murphy was a complicated woman. She longed to have things she knew she could never have and she dreamed of amazing and unrealistic things, as most people do. Although, Marielle was different. She took dreaming to another level. Marielle had a rare condition called Nightmare disorder.
I know what you’re thinking. How can wonderous dreams be labeled with such a horrid name like “nightmare disorder?” Well, Marielle’s case was different. Usually, when you have nightmare disorder, you’re supposed to dream of horrible things that once happened or will at some point happen in your life. (This disorder won’t tell your future in your dreams, but it will make you want to fulfill your dreams, no matter how horrible or how delightful they are.) Instead of having night terrors, Marielle had night dreams.
The doctors had never seen such a case like Marielle’s. There was no real explanation for why this happened to Marielle, but she learned to embrace it. Her doctors even came up with their own name for the disorder; SOGD. Marielle didn’t like thinking of the gift she had as a disorder so they called it the “State of Graceful Dreams.”
So, how does all of that tie in with being in love? That’s where the real story begins.
