With that Collin turned and left. The maid Mary showed Elise around and then Elise took a nap on the large luxurious bed and fell fast asleep.
Chapter 4
Collin
“I am tired of hiding in the shadows Collin. I want to walk in the sun again. Walk freely about the world without those humans running in fear or trying to kill us.” Collin looked at Malcolm his cousin and close friend, “They only act that way because they do not understand us. They can not see who we truly are because our ancestors chose to hide from them.” Malcolm scoffed, “One day we will rule the light again and they will be the ones cowering in the dark.” Collin remembered that conversation like it was this morning. Malcolm was chomping at the bit back then. Just as fear of the Vampurin Folk had caused people to run or try to kill them; hate of hiding in the shadows had caused his cousin and once close friend to hate humans. It was Malcolm’s hate and the hate of others who looked at things the same way that caused the humans to once again wage war. To wage a war that lasted for nearly 50 years. In those 50 years Collin had watched in horror as his close friend became blood thirsty and a mere shadow of the once strong Elvin Vampurin knight, he had been. That war saw the population of humanity go from 8 billion souls to only a few thousand. While Collin had always tried to stay neutral it was seeing the death of all those people that caused him to take the stand he now took. With the help of his father and the Elvin Vampurin council; Collin’s father had been able to end the war, bring peace between the Four Powers, and ensure the survival of the remaining humans. Malcolm and his followers had been banished and had not been heard of since. Collin now thought how It was wanting to be out of the shadows that sealed Malcolm fate to forever live in them. It also now brought Elise into his life and for that he could bare the horrible memories. With her Collin hoped to prove once and for all that Humans and the Four Powers can coexist peacefully not as they do now but truly coexist.
Collin knew that Elise would be sleeping for quite some time and so he took the opportunity to have the necessary papers drawn up for the bonding ceremony which would have to take place before the end of the fall which was in 3 months’ time. He had that long for Elise to agree of her own free will. The bonding was much more than just Elise baring his heir, it meant that he would belong to her body and soul and that he could never have another companion. It also meant that when he became king she would be crowned queen and co-ruler with him.
