Mory and the other Sporadical members remained in an awkward standoff with the spiders until a long strand of web randomly shot out of one of the castle windows and flew over their heads. Next thing Mory knew, the spiders in front of them went into attack mode. They shot webs as well and charged towards them.
“Fight!” Barin yelled.
Mory drew his sword and prepared himself. A fighter with an American grass spider manek ran to Mory and tried to sweep him off his feet by using his spider legs. Mory rolled out of the way and then slashed one of the guy’s spider legs with his sword. As the man screamed, Mory knocked him out with a dropkick to the head. Many more spiders tried to attack Mory, but he was able to use his squirrel craftiness to dodge and counter.
Soon, Mory came to his senses and realized that he didn’t come to Zitonia to fight the scrubs. He wanted Teraphon, and the man was just meters away inside the castle. As Mory continued to fight, he thought about how he would reach the castle and get inside. The spiders were guarding it well. He remembered the window that the web was shot out of.
Mory made his way to one of the spider king statues and climbed to the top of it. He looked down from his pedestal, which was on top of an actual pedestal, and watched the blood being shed beneath his feet. He felt a little guilty about leaving his comrades in the lions’ den, but his hunger for revenge was much stronger than his guilt. He looked at the window that he planned on jumping through. He estimated that it would take him about thirty seconds to get there.
This is for you, Dad.
That was his final thought before leaping off of the head of the marble spider king. He glided over the battle. Spiders were aiming their webs at him, trying to pull him down. He dodged almost all of them. The one that hit him stuck to his left ankle, but Mory quickly cut it away with his sword. He was almost at the castle window when he saw a jumping spider zooming towards him. The guy was holding a sword, and he was ready to slice and dice Mory up. Mory brought his sword forward to defend himself. Just as the spider was getting ready to swing, someone got in his way. Thacris jumped up from out of nowhere and shoved the guy away.
The window sill was big enough for two people to stand on. Mory landed directly on the sill and Thacris jumped on to it shortly after. They both saw the double fight that was taking place in the big room. Sannis was fighting a huge guy with brown tarantula legs while Malicus was battling against the man that led them into the castle earlier.
“The one fighting Sannis. That must be him,” Mory said to Thacris.
“Who’s him? You don’t mean Teraphon, do you?
“Yeah.”
Thacris sounded concerned when he said, “I don’t like that look on your face, Mory. Don’t tell me you’re thinking about going over there to fight that guy.”
Mory didn’t say a word. He watched as Teraphon shoved Sannis, sending him flying a few meters into the wall.
Mory jumped from the window sill and glided towards Teraphon.
“Mory!” Thacris cried out.
Teraphon caught sight of the squirrel boy gliding in his direction with a sword in his hand. He just stood there and stared. Mory swung the sword down towards Teraphon’s head with all of his strength.
He hit nothing but air.
Teraphon sidestepped out of the way. Mory looked into his eyes, and it was as if time had slow down. He recognized those eyes too well. They were the eyes of someone who wanted vengeance.
Mory felt a hard knock against his skull. He dropped to the floor. A blurry view of Teraphon’s feet was the last thing that he saw before passing out.

Mory woke up in a biome cruiser with his head resting on Sylo’s lap. His eyes were sensitive to the lighting from the lantern inside the cruiser. His vision was jacked up, but he was still able to see Sylo’s face.
“Where are we?” Mory was barely able to mutter the question.
“We’re flying to safety so we can regroup from the battle,” said Sylo.
“How did I get here? I was fighting Teraphon and then . . .”
“I don’t know if I’d call that fighting,” said Thacris. “What happened was, you tried to hit Teraphon with your sword and missed. Then he smashed you in the back of the head with one of his freakish spider legs. He was about to finish you off, but then Sannis like . . . raged out and turned into some kind of super wolf. He yelled at me to grab you and get out of there. He didn’t have to tell me twice. Everybody in that room was scary except for you.”
“Where’s Sannis?” Mory asked.
“No one knows. Everyone that was fighting in there disappeared,” said Thacris.
“How could you do something so stupid?” said Sylo. “You’d be dead if it wasn’t for Sannis and Thacris.”
“I know. It was dumb. I’m sorry, Sylo.”
Sylo looked into Mory’s eyes and caressed his forehead with her thumb.
“Just get some rest, Mory. We’ll talk about this in the morning.”
Mory smiled and closed his eyes. He didn’t know who had survived the battle in the throne room. He didn’t know if he would ever be strong enough to defeat Teraphon. He didn’t know what the future had in store for Sporadical. There was one thing that he did know though. Sylo’s thighs were excellent as pillows.
