The teacher got home from school and hung his coat on the coat rack nearby his entrance door. He had had a rough day. One of the kids, he had to yell at, and he hated himself for it. He poured himself a glass of scotch, which was rare. Then he cried into his hands, pleading forgiveness for himself, the child, and the family the kid was from.
He pulled out an old newspaper. The one where he was mentioned as most influential teacher at the school. ‘Mr. Harrison, we grant you this award as a declaration of your innovative and constructive teaching…’
He didn’t want to stray away from the man he was known to be from the past, but inevitably, things change.
He still had the same muster as he always had and could still change things around yet. Teaching goes hand in hand with lifelong learning along with credible forgiveness for all persons and where they come from. Including his own leaps and bounds through education and the turmoil of discovery.

Love this description of teaching “Teaching goes hand in hand with lifelong learning along with credible forgiveness for all persons and where they come from.” What an optimistic image. It makes me hopeful that some of the problems with the American education system can be fixed, if we have teachers that truly practice forgiveness and acceptance for everyone. And teach children and the rest of us to do the same. Thanks for sharing!
Defining what is most important is interchangeable. Sometimes, we just do what we can to get through the day. Our errors are to be considered. And to keep moving forward and strive for excellence in any way is essential.
Communication through emotion is valuable. Kindness is important. There are also dynamics toward what is considerate and polite. And to of course, have one or two ‘fun’ and crafty individuals walk along the lines of the boundaries.
Perhaps fun is most important. Or comfort, or intelligence. Each classroom and scenario, once considered, can become a stage or a learning experience. It’s about comfort first, then engaging the capacities, capabilities, or defining moments. I’m rambling. Life is fascinating.
