Chapter two: Lunch Time
Is it just me or do teachers actually sound like the grownups on Charlie Brown? Because that is all I heard all day long. Plus the often growls from my stomach. I don’t know why I was hungry, I ate breakfast. Anyways, I was dying to eat lunch all through English and stupid Gym. And in creative writing are genres this term are Adventure, Fantasy, and Mystery.
Today in class my teacher, Mr. Fillpot, let us type are stories and listen to music. I could tell he was in a good mood. So, I put in my earbuds and listened to my favorite music, 80’s. I get lost in inspiration when I listen to music. I had lots of ideas for a Mystery book. I always close my eyes to imagine what to write. It’s kind of like a dream. So I closed my eyes and it all came to me.
As I closed my eyes, I saw a dead body on the ground. I look down at my outfit I was wearing a brown coat with blue pants and black boots. I had a badge in my pocket. I was a detective! Cool!
I wrote and wrote until the bell rang. I almost forgot that I was hungry. I put my computer away and went to go get my lunch from the school. I wonder what we are having today. I look around to see what food the lunch ladies made. Looks like mac and cheese. Yum? I usually don’t eat the main line, but the sandwich line was too long. Mac and cheese will have to do.
While I was in line I couldn’t but over hear some girls talking about Riley.
“Oh! Did you see him today?!? He is so hot!” A girl in a hot pink dress whispered to her friends. It’s like she was in a love spell.
“Let’s go to the swim practice tomorrow to see him in his swimsuit!!”
“Yass!!!” The three girls screamed.
Yass!! Let’s go stock a boy! Weird… oh wait. I look at pictures of him. Oh great. I’m a weird stocker person. Great, but honestly, I don’t care.
Finally, is time to get lunch! I walked up to the register to type in my code. I moved down the line, I picked an apple juice box and a container of strawberries. I always love when they have strawberries. I grabbed the lunch tray with a mac n’ cheese, four chicken nuggets, and a scoop of green beans. I walked over to the sauce table and gathered a packet of ketchup and mayo.
Okay, where is Bosten today? I roamed around to see if I could spot him in the crowd of students everywhere in lines and sitting on tables. Hm… oh I see him. I slowly walked over there threw the groups of people trying not to drop my food.
“Hey Bosten,” I said while I sat down in the chair next to him.
“Hey, Josh and Conner aren’t coming today. Josh is still on vacation and Connor is sick.” He told me while drinking his milk.
“Oh, so just you and me today? Cool!”
Um… okay. Can today get any better?! I talked to Riley, I got a new friend, and I’m sitting alone with Bosten at lunch!
“So, are you okay?” Bosten asked me.
“What do you mean?”
“You didn’t hear? Isabella asked Riley to go on a date.”
“What! She knows I like him! Ugh!” I whispered to Bosten angrily!
“Well it might not be true, just a rumor? Don’t be sad, she’s a jerk anyways.” He pointed out, “Just know, if riley was an idiot he would still know not to be with her.”
“Yea. Thanks.”
Wow, my day just got so much better. I actually can’t believe this! A least someone thinks I should be with him.
“Well, thanks for telling me.” I told him while standing up to go and confront Isabella. “I’ll be right back.”
“Okay?” He replied.
I could tell he didn’t know where I was going. I walked up stairs trying to keep my temper down. I stared around to try and find Isabella. Yes, I was mad, but she was just trying to start up a fight, right. Well she’s going to get one!
“Isabella! How dare you!” I yelled.
“What do you mean, is Riley your man? Do you own him?” She argued as she stood up.
“You… you.” I stuttered
“I… I… what?” Mocking me she came closer to my face. She turned around as her other friends laughed at me.
I didn’t care if I got in trouble or got detention or anything, I wanted pay back! In one fast motion I picked up my hand and slapped Isabella across the face.
“Hey! Hey! Stop!” Bosten said trying to calm me down as pulling me back from Isabella. “It’s okay…”
