Number 1: No-Shave-November was the beginning or the start to my beard growing journeys. It takes approximately forty days to recognize if the beard is coming in. November is a good way to start, by putting away the razor and seeing what happens in that month. If you are a teenager, it might take a while longer. Some beards don’t come in full enough until early or late twenties, sometimes, even thirties.
Number 2: Once you do notice that a beard is possible, there are several different options for growing. A yeard is a beard grown all year round, usually starting around January 1st, but of course, this is not a requirement.
Number 3: There are also the ember beards or the first rain to last rain beards which include growing from September, through October, November and December.
Number 4: The first rain of the season varies per state and location, but over here ours was September 4th. Just grow until the last rain in May, and if you like your beard, maybe just give it a trim to give it stronger shape or character.
Number 5: Growing a beard will change you, you might become feared, respected or even looked down upon. Every beard serves its purpose. They do somehow regulate body temperature and therefore make your hunger and eating cycles more regulated. Having something constantly growing on your face is demanding and requires proper nutrition.
Number 6: Bearding is a journey. If you see fellow bearders, give them encouragement. Unless they shave the sides or the neck or something. A full beard is the way to go. Only city slickers style or trim their beards. Unless they’re extra creative and like a particular style like the mustache, the flavor savor or soul patch, the goatee, sideburns, things of that nature.
Number 7: Growing a beard is a reflective time. And you might not appear in everybody whom you know’ s life. Once you go a couple weeks here and there, they might start to notice what you have done with the place.
Number 8: Be strong in your journey. Know your beard goals and stick by them. You are only as strong as your goals. Then, you are as strong as your beard.
Number 9: You might have to smile more often when talking to neighbors or other folk. Beards can be intimidating, so be a bit friendlier.
Number 10: And last and importantly, stroke your beard once you get into the 2-500 month mark. This will make conversation more intrigueing, or even just sitting down and watching t.v… Grow your beard!!!
