When called to mind, some shudder in fright
When spoken word of mouth, others bow in respect
A vessel of knowledge, yet often rejected in order to be right
A guide in life, but pushed away for ego to protect
Many speak well of you; they mean it, do they?
Are they speaking from heart, or just uttering courtesy?
You’ve met so many good people; why don’t they stay?
Did they sense danger from you, or did their scared pride bid flee?
I know how they feel; you’ve inflicted lessons rough
I see their minds; you’ve shown them brutal truth
But would they rather live an easy lie than live a reality tough?
Do away with cold honesty and caudle deceit that will soothe?
You’ve hurt them a little; the bruise is all they see
They cry about it all the day, yet don’t perceive the wisdom brought!
You meant not to damage them, but rather build their esteem
They cannot find the hidden gift; they see hate being taught
Those who truly love you see your light shine through
And those who value you will deem your worth priceless
A priceless friend is what you are; I love you dearly and true
I am always your loving student, through bliss and grim crisis
