It will inevitably come for me.
At times my greatest fear.
At times my greatest hope.
Release.
From the suffering of life.
Separation.
From those you love.
Good and bad.
Peace and sorrow.
Dark thoughts consume me.
Will the soul carry on?
Will man become immortal?
Does he want such a thing?
Is it a blessing or a curse?
If life is suffering.
As the buddhist believes.
Then we should want death.
If heaven awaits.
As the christian believes.
Then we should want it too.
Yet we do not.
We fear it.
Is our faith weak?
Our constitution?
No.
For we are human.
We must fight death,
until the last moment,
when we truly have,
no other choice.
And then,
we must embrace it.

See, I as never afraid of death, only the pain of death. Because I kept telling myself that there HAS to be an afterlife. Our consciousness can’t just end. but my boyfriend, best friend, nor parents believe in an afterlife. They think we’re just here one minute, then we’re not. It’s like being put under anesthesia. And ever since they made that comparison I’v been having an existential crisis. Is this life really all we get?
Thank you for your comment. I personally feel there has got to be more to it. You can’t prove god but you also can’t disprove god. And if you believe and turn out wrong, you’ll never know the difference. I personally like the universe as a simulation theory that states that the universe is more than likely a simulation of the original universe. We are approaching levels of computing which indicate we could someday make a digital universe. If such a universe existed it could be run multiple times. Whereas the actual universe runs course once. Therefore odds are infinitely greater that we are existing in a computer simulation than in the actual universe. I find comfort in it for some reason. Plus I think it explains dejavu.
