I saw you today and you’re repeating your patterns.
You got me with a shy smile and a laugh.
You took my scrunchie and never gave it back.
You wore it for days, but never did I get it back.
After awhile you said you hated scrunchies.
You rejected my offers; rejected my doves.
Now again you have one in your hair; someone else’s doves.
Now again you have someone else who will fall for a shy smile and a laugh.
Now again you repeat what got me.
I guess that’s what you meant when you said you thought we were practice.
You learned a tactic.
You learned the steps.
Now all that’s left to do is repeat.

Ooooo, I like this. There’s signs that point to manipulative tactics if you can spot them early enough, and you outlined them really well. It’s not the person’s fault that they trusted someone, and these true color reveals could help someone dealing with a similar situation. True love isn’t planned obsolescence. Thanks for writing this.
