Never thought I would end up in here
Away from everything I held so dear
Family gone, friends have forgotten me
Locked up in this place like a detainee
If I don’t get up, in this hard bed I will lay
While watching others go about their day
Introvert by nature so it’s quite hard for me
A little bit shy, don’t make friends easily
Don’t play cards, nor even a game of chess
Need someone just to help me get dressed
All day I sit here with folks a lot like myself
Abandoned, neglected, hid on the top shelf
Our family was large like the Walton Clan
Among my relatives, I was a family man
A home full of precious daughters and sons
Never thought I would end up with none
Each day I sit at this window and stare
No one will come unless I fall out my chair
In this dark, quiet corner I secretly pray
That death will come to visit me today

You really captured the loneliness people in nursing homes feel. It makes me want to call my grandma. Good job! My one question: why can’t this man play cards or chess? Is he depressed, or is he too frail?
