If I died today what would you say to that?
Since a young lad she’s been warning herself
But lay my dead body down beside her
And don’t you ever look back at your mistakes
Beside myself
There’s an open Bible with a scripture
But it’s unreadable
And there’s ink running down the pages
How come you’ve been sad lately?
And I can’t ever make you happier
So what? I’ve been a dying soul
For you to come and snatch my body up
You’ve been sadder than singing the Blues
And my funeral is upon the church on the hilltop
And the Preacher asked God to pray for our souls
So we shall live in eternal resting places
Never will I ever seem to cheer you up lad
And now that I’m gone
Please lay my dead body down beside her
And don’t forget to pray for us
I’ve been seeking a true lover from my wake
And she hasn’t come yet
So what? I’ve been a lover since I’ve been dying
And you aren’t seeming to cheer up
How can’t I ever seek a lover now you may ask?
But it’s impossible now that I’ve died
Now that I’m dead
Please lay my dead body down beside her
And now that the missus that also died
Has died with me mysteriously
And now that we’re dead all I wanted is for
You to lay my dead body down beside her
Hey don’t cry at our funerals
It’ll only make things worse
I’ve been in a coma for a long time and died
And she’s been stabbed to death
