What This Cookie Means to My Family And I
This cookie has a very special memory in my family’s heart. It’s not the taste of it but who gave us this recipe. My Grandma Great, who was my Mother’s Grandma and my Grandma’s Mom etc. started it all. According to Mom, Grandma Great and Grandpa Great used to come to their house to visit from Pennsylvania for Christmas. Mom along with her eight other siblings were always super excited when they came. The two arrived normally a little bit before Christmas with the decorations and arrangements still not finished. Grandma Great never forgot to bake cookies with her grandchildren. They had a blast baking together. So much so that Mom and her sister had a flour fight in the kitchen! Praline Squares was one of the recipes Grandma Great brought with her to make. She got us hooked on it and this Christmas I baked them with my Mom. Sadly, she passed away in 2010 followed by Grandpa Great who died just a little later on. My family misses them very much. I miss them terribly. When I make those cookies, I’ll remember Grandma Great is looking down on us from above. I wouldn’t be surprised if Grandpa Great wasn’t tempted to come to Earth and snatch a cookie or two.
Hope you enjoy trying these.
