We all had our summer as kids that we can remember, full of great memories. When can remember what we felt, what we heard, what we smelled, what we tasted, and what we saw. Everyone has a great memory of summer break while they were a kid, here’s mine.
All throughout summer, there are hundreds of smells that you experience, here are some of the few I remember. Every single Friday my family would have a small dinner outside, a barbecue. We would wait until it was somewhat dark to start cooking, we would talk and play around. The smells I can remember most is whatever was being cooked on the grill as well as the grass that was just cut, with a hint of lavender in the air. Being an anxious kid all the time, and still being an anxious person, the smells of summer were comforting to me, it felt like home.
Summertime is such a nice time for any kid, especially for me. I loved seeing the clouds against the light blue sky slowly floating across, it was almost comforting. I remember watching the flowers sway when the wind blew, seeing the wind tousle the grass, it was an amazing sight. I could appreciate all of these things, even as a kid. Watching all of the other kids run around laughing and enjoying themselves while the day was ending, it was peaceful.
Hearing a variety of sounds I could only remember a few. Every single night I would go outside and listen to the crickets chirp, the cars driving by, making a light humming noise. I could hear all of the bugs buzzing around, rushing about like they were in a hurry for something. The neighborhood was filled with the laughter of children having the time of their lives, playing with their friends and family, cherishing this moment without realizing it.
I could feel the prickly grass on my arms and legs when I lay down looking at the sky, letting the warmth of the sun beat down on me. I could feel the warm breeze hit my small body while laying in the grass, closing my eyes and letting my mind wander. I could feel the hard smack of the soccer ball against my foot, passing it back to my brother. Being barefoot I could feel the grass poking my feet, tickling them.
The few things I can still taste on my tongue is the barbecue that was cooked, I could taste the air that had a smokey smell to it from all of the people that were barbecuing in the neighborhood. I can still taste the sweet watermelon that was given to me after a day of playing, the sweetness making my tastebuds dance.

This was such a visceral story with really rich imagery. You have an excellent grasp on how to manipulate the English language. I loved this and hope to read more from you!
