The crescent moon shimmers,
its glow lighting up the sands,
in the sea of shifting dunes.
A salty breeze blows through,
just the hint of the ocean,
but everything is bone dry.
An occasional shrub,
cacti here and there,
and orange rocks too.
A bright night sky,
the whole milky way,
is out on display.
The heavens shine brightly,
as bright as the moon,
and the sands shine back.
Silence but for the breeze,
steady and constant,
whirring in my ears.
A long quiet walk,
on a big sandy sea,
sounds perfect to me.
