We all have a mask
To get us by
Hiding behind our new ally
Where we bask
Like an answered prayer
It’s nationwide
Vanishing into thin air
As we put ourselves aside
Sometimes it’s easier being someone else
Someone different from yourself
So we seek a new outpost
Putting it all in escrow
To escape these shadows
That haunt like ghosts
But it won’t last
There’s weight to the mask
Its heavy
And no levee
Like the hull of a ship
It chips
Leaving no payoff
Just a loss
With yourself as the cost
Frost said life goes on
I agree
Its a marathon
Making you the draftee
On day one
Just keep this in mind
There will always be regrets
Take it one day at a time
That’s the secret
