"When You Die"
What happens when you die?
Is there an afterlife?
Do you return as another person… animal?
Or, is there nothing?
I can’t imagine, there being nothing…
I can’t imagine it.
There has to be something… Right?
There has to be somewhere, someplace to go.
It all can’t just be, over.
It should be like, falling asleep.
When you sleep, you dream.
In your dreams, you’re in a better place.
Like, and afterlife.
What if, you’re just dreaming right now. And your life, everything is just one big dream?
And when we die.. We’re actually just waking up?
And when we die then, we just keep waking up from a dream.
Like, a dream within a dream.
Except, it’s endless.

I really enjoyed this poem! Especially the meta moment at the end when the possibilities seem endless – “A dream within a dream.” Like the Russian nesting dolls, but with dreams. This idea of death just being a form of waking up brings the concept of reincarnation to mind. Every death is actually just the beginning of a new life, and so forth. Thanks for sharing!
