Looks colorful on the outside,
Pretends the sky is blue,
Internally she is sad,
And no one has a clue…
Tries to make others happy,
Determined to win affection,
And underneath all that armor,
She wants to feel protection…
Dad left early in life,
In her youth and adult years,
Bottled inside her emotions,
All the depression and all the tears…
Gravitated towards the sick ones,
Against brutal advice that was given,
But self destruction was so fierce,
Her suicide mission had been driven…
Her soul been scarred by men,
They cared only for their well being,
And the people pleasing she engaged,
Blinded her, she wasn’t seeing…
Wanting to save them wholeheartedly,
Codependency rapid within,
With the help she thought she provided,
Made them run and in a tailspin…
She soon became victim and martyr,
Blamed others, nothing her fault,
And gradually throughout her life,
Her Higher Power she firmly sought…
God was with her constantly,
As she chose not to surrender,
Her life spiraled down completely,
Stayed drunk bender after bender…
Miserable as time flew by,
AA solidly ruined her drinking,
And liquor tarnished her brain,
On a daily basis she wasn’t thinking…
Moving through motions of life,
Like a zombie cold and numb,
Her existence was pathetic,
Wanting to forget where she’d come from…
However she’s been blessed,
Her wings she’s gained through despair,
Learned that life can hurt a whole lot,
And the remorse can be repaired…
Patience is not her specialty,
To sit calmly isn’t her thing,
But virtue in disguise,
The peace it so does bring…
Tried to exercise some tolerance,
And putting self will aside,
Obedience the Lord will teach.
And so she tried to abide…
Her insight to have integrity,
Realistic goals that she can meet,
Her life changing before her eyes,
No more strife, no more defeat…
Cherishing the relationship with her Maker,
The communication runs so free,
His will not hers be done,
He designs a life for her to see…
