I used to dream about my knight in shining armor he would be so tall and handsome and oh, quite the charmer. His blue eyes would shine with love whenever he saw my face, he would hold me close at heart with his warm and strong embrace. We would ride into the sunset with carefree minds and hearts, we would pledge our love eternal never to be apart. But from this dream I’ve wakened at reality’s insistent call, to find my knight in armor is not a knight at all. Instead of clad in armor he wears his faded jeans, and the beautiful, misty, blue eyes are now an emerald green. The white horse in my dreams which carried us away, has turned into a Malibu which has seen it’s better days. But even though my castle has faded with the sun, and all my picket fences have fallen one by one, He’s still so tall and handsome, a charmer he can be and though he has no armor he’s still a knight to me. -Anita Elam FB, Instagram, Twitter - WVPoetrygirl
