Yo, I grew up in the southern parts of Jersey,
As I was a nice kid wit nice dreams.
Life was so simple and it was all a dream,
As Pharrell raps about his ice creams.
I grew up with a mom, dad, and bros,
As I learned a lot from watchin them.
It was an easy good-doer and it flowed,
Going over and over in my young mind.
I was a youngin once,
Mommy and daddy went from raisin me to work.
I had it just a trance,
As I fucked it all up learnin from bad jerks.
Pappy wasn’t the happiest,
My big bro was a smart one.
Momma wasn’t like the rest,
And lil bro was the brilliant mind.
Where I grew up, life ain’t that easily done,
As a youngin, I learned from the blessed.
My parents somewhat were the richest one,
And they got the job done just like the rest.
Back in town, I was the smartest,
Downtown I was the lover’s comet.
Up in town, I was the brightest,
As my brilliance took off just like a rocket.
The only one place I knew I had the most love,
It’s true, the homes I grew up in when I was young.
As I was bullied crying over spilled milk I must have,
Over in my young mind, I was ashamed of where I belong.
Never will I look back at those darkest days of torture,
I don’t belong to a group so-called the “popular ones”.
My friends, I hung out with but me here today before and after,
As the popular ones I grew up with were all smokin dem blunts.
