That’s what some
Didn’t understand
These handfuls
Of empty boxes
And expecting peoples;
I’d offered her eternity
But it wasn’t truly
What she’d ask for.
She weathered the hardships
Of some ordinary life
These magical gifts
For an ordinary
Complicated girl
She assumed
Weren’t hers to keep.
This beautiful heart,
So misunderstood.
How strange
Her fairy tales;
I’ll tell you
If she said
It’s time to sleep
Let’s leave this place,
For all of our options
Unknown
Futuristic promise –
I’d follow her
Into the ground.
But don’t ever think
I’d let you forget;
Not this time.
