The girl who was hated by all that knew her.
She was intense and coarse, her voice like sand
Always the last to crack a smile and the first to pick a fight
She was resented by many, even if they only knew of her exterior.
Yet, she was painfully beautiful.
Her hair as long as a river and as dark as space,
Her eyes as light as the caribbean and as big as a doe.
Her skin was like cream, pale and fair.
Her smile, though rare, was often compared to Aphrodites herself.
Her hands like broken glass, fragile and jagged all at once.
Most say she was hated for her looks.
Those with a personality like that, only deserved to be ugly.
Not as striking as she.
The rumors would spread about how she was from the moon.
Her looks as stunning as a celestial body, her personality as cold as the dark side of the moon.
She seemed to glow in the dark and disappear in the light.
But what the she always understood, was her destiny at hand,
That she was given a task from the sun,
To look as the moon, ethereal and mesmerizing
Cool to the touch.
Yet she did not act as the moon.
The moon was loving and warm despite its rumors of mystery and dismay.
She acted as the sun.
Cold and fierce, a mirror of hate and jealousy.
For the olden tales had got it all wrong.
They had assumed and never confirmed,
Which led to the hatred of the girl.
She was only hated because of what she portrayed.
She was not evil nor dark nor cold.
She simply portrayed the things these people hated of themselves.
When you looked at her you saw the worst part of yourself.
The part that you resented the most.
That is why she was hated,
Because her calloused ways were only a reflection of others.
So she was not quite ‘the girl from the moon’
But more the girl from the sun.
The girl from the sun who would be trapped in living this hateful life.
As long as the moon would beam and as long as the sun would shine,
She was destined to be the dark of the world.
Because how else would the earth function?
