Night Terror
Summer night, window open.
Sleeping.
Sound!
Something climbing through open window.
Move!
Can’t move.
Run!
Can’t move.
Finally bolting.
Through doorway, into kitchen.
Through doorway into Livingroom.
Down hall, stopping.
Hand on door knob.
Waiting, listening.
Nothing.
Creeping down hall, lights on.
Creeping through doorway, into livingroom, lights on.
Creeping through doorway, into kitchen, lights on.
Finally, through doorway, into bedroom, lights on.
Searching.
Under bed…nothing.
In closet…nothing.
Dream?
Lights off.
Window closed.
In bed, blanket pulled to chin.
Sleep…
Red eyes peering through a closed window.
The sound of breaking glass.
Move!
Can’t move.
Run!
Can’t move.
Wake Up!
Already awake…

This poem is so present! The formatting really helps it along. Good job!
This piece has me on edge, especially as I’m writing this at night, alone, in my room by the window… Hats off to you as a writer for creating fear and suspense!
