Cool, gentle breeze rustles my hair Damp city street, the smell of rain in the air. Walking past the shops before the world awakes Listening to a sidewalk serenade. Shadows move in unlit rooms, a new day begins Before the hustle breaks my mood, I take it all in. Tucked away in memory, I hope will never fade. The feeling I get listening to a sidewalk serenade. I loved reading this piece. You are a great writer. I had an image in my head of the scene you portrayed which means your use of sensory details is really good. Great job.
Thank you. I’m trying to focus more and more on sensory, that way it gives the reader more of a true feel of what you’re feeling, so thank you for noticing that! And, it’s true. when I’m walking along, especially uninterrupted by others, i love taking in the smells, the sounds, the feels all around me. Thank you for you feedback. Feel free to check out my Writer page on FB: WVPoetrygirl
FYI, I have a new poetry book coming out in the next couple of weeks (on Amazon) that is called “Sidewalk Serenade” Poetry from a WVPoetrygirl. If you’re interested in checking it out. Thanks -Anita
