What if suddenly, one day, time stopped? What if you and your twin sister were the only ones that was aware of the things happening during the frozen time period? Well, what was what happened to Sophie and Natalie.
Sophie and Natalie’s family just moved into a new town. The townsfolk seemed weird though. They had strange decorations outside their house; although it might be because of Halloween, which was coming up. Some decorations included: clocks ticking, almost like a bomb was gonna set off once the ticking stopped, and fake portal-like things were placed on a house’s yard. No one ever came out of the house unless they were buying food. It was so eerie and just way too quiet, the neighborhood was empty of animals and birds. The grass and trees seemed to die too.
On Halloween, Sophie and Natalie still dressed up and was ready to go trick-or-treating despite of the the creepiness. The lure of candy watered their mouths. Whatever, they thought, it’s supposed to be Halloween anyways. Throwing away that thought, they knocked on the first door. No one replied. That’s weird, Sophie and Natalie thought, there were lights and decorations, which usually meant that they celebrated Halloween. They decided to peer into the window; the light was on and they saw a lady that looked like she was walking towards the door but suddenly stopped in her track. Umm, today is getting really strange, Sophie and Natalie thought together. Suddenly, the clock ticking stopped. The girls were now getting REALLY creeped out.
“What is happening?” Sophie whispered urgently. Suddenly, the wind that was blowing against their face stopped, and the watch on Natalie’s arm stopped ticking.
“Ummm, Sophie?” Natalie said slowly, “Is it just me or do I feel like the time stopped?”
“That is impossible!” Sophie exclaimed, but it was indeed true. The girls were freaking out. Then, a little note fluttered from the sky. It read: Time stopping? It’s not impossible. Touch the nearest coin.
The girls were puzzled. “Wait I have a penny!” Sophie exclaimed. They touched the penny, and a giant portal looking thing stood in front of them. The girls were sucked in the portal, and it felt like they were going down a giant rainbow slide. Finally the ride ended, and the girls plopped onto a pile of jewels.
“What the…?” both girls muttered.
In front of them stood a world of different places. Everything they dream of, it came true. Literally. Sophie and Natalie saw different things, because this was a world of dreams. You can dream anything in your head and it comes true.
“WOAH!” Sophie and Natalie yelled at the same time. “This is freaking crazy!”
“Are you seeing what I’m seeing?” Natalie asked.
“You mean all the clothes and food and all the money I have?” Sophie said.
“Hmm? No! I see mountains and rivers and magical castles, even a rainbow!” Natalie said.
The girls were confused. How come they see different things? Suddenly, a note flew down from the sky. The girls looked at each other.
“Do you see that?” Natalie asked. Sophie nodded. She picked up the note and read it out loud: Huh. A world where all your DREAMS come true. Do you wanna stay here and live happily for the rest of your life? Or would you save the mankind by finding a way to go back to your world? It’s up to you. No pressure.
“What do you mean NO PRESSURE?!” Sophie sighed.
“Wait, let me get this straight. A world where all my dreams come true. So if I want this world to be a world of diamonds, I can do that? Lemme try.” Natalie said.
Natalie closed her eyes, dreamed of a world made up of diamonds, shining in the sunlight. When she opened her eyes, there was indeed a diamond world!
“Oh my god!” Natalie said, “It worked!”
“Really? Let me try.” Sophie said.
The girls went through a series of dreams and all of it came true. They were amazed. But more importantly, they were lost. Would they stay here? Or go back? Sophie and Natalie were kind girls, but this was once in a lifetime opportunity.
After a while of thinking, Sophie said: “I think we should go back, I mean, what’s fun without our families? Without us, the mankind would forever stay frozen. WE are the only ones that can help.”
“Very true. I think we should go back.” Natalie quietly said.
“Hey note! Whoever you are! We are going back! Any hints?” Sophie yelled into the air. To Natalie it seemed stupid. But after a minute or so, a note fluttered down. Natalie picked it up, it read: Hmm. Interesting choice. If it was me, I’d stay in this world. But it’s totally up to you. Anyways. Your first and LAST hint is: Dreams, dreams, they all come true. What is your dream that must be true?
“What the heck man! That’s not a hint! That’s our last hint as well?” Sophie screamed. After a moment of silence, she said again, “Right Natalie?”
“Huh? Oh yeah sure. But I think I’m figuring out the hint. If we can dream anything we want, can’t we dream of going back to our world?” Natalie asked.
“Oh! That’s smart! But we are still be in this world! Even if we dreamed to be back in our world.” Sophie said.
“Hmmm.. Good point.” Natalie replied. She kept on thinking. “But we can dream of actually leaving this world and going back to world AND leaving the dream there!”
“Oh my god! Yes! Quite brilliant actually! You’re so smart!” Sophie said while Natalie beamed.
Another note fluttered down, it says: Nicely done Natalie! You’ve figured it out! I will always be with you guys because you guys made the right choice. If you stayed in this world. You will soon die. Be glad of your choice. Very proud of you guys. I will send you guys back. Goodbye, not forever.
After the last word was read, a huge portal sucked Sophie and Natalie back into their world.
