The wind was blowing just enough that you could hear the crackling of the tree limbs swaying and the dead leaves rustled from the tree. It was a cold winter night and the first snow of the year beautifully decorated the ground at the Olson’s farm.
There was a little boy and his black lab puppy laying by the warmth of the fireplace inside the small log cabin. The boy had just finished eating his dinner, which consisted of a creamy tomato soup and delicious grilled cheese sandwich; it was the child’s favorite meal.
Mother was curled up on the most comfy sofa with her satin night gown and plaid blanket softly sipping on a cup of the warmest coffee she had drank that day. She smiled as the little boy lay next to the fireplace with his new puppy.
Father, who was freshly out of the forest behind the small log cabin, tucked himself away on the floor beside the small child and puppy. He felt happy and content that his work was done and he was with the warm fire rather than the bitter, snowy cold of the night.
The family was in their happy place.
