This may sound ungrateful though I don’t mean it to but I’m tired of hearing “Sorry for your loss” platitudes. When someone you know passes away It seems like the easiest words to say. But for loved ones hearing it You don’t even know what pain they are going through even though it don’t show. “Sorry for your Loss” just adds to their pain another reminder of who they'll never see again. Instead of reminding them their loved one is gone say something uplifting to help them hold on. He was a good man, she was a great friend. He kept me laughing ‘til the very end. Instead of “I’m sorry” your presence will do Or simply let them know “I’m here for you”. Follow: FB, Instagram, Twitter: WVPoetrygirl

Your writing is really deep. The way that you shifted the attention directly onto the ones left behind and how they feel really gets to the unspoken truth behind the effect that condolences can have on people in mourning. I love it.
Thank You, Crystal. My nephew, Dana, passed away suddenly on Tuesday from a heart attack. He was only 43. His funeral is today. Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.
